BIM - BIM Level 2

From April 2016 it is the aim of the Government that projects should be carried out following the BIM Level 2 procedures. The two main objectives of the BIM Level 2 procedures are:

  • To reduce carbon emmisions;
  • To reduce project costs by 15-20%.

The requirements to achieve BIM level 2 are outlined within BS1192:2007 and PAS1192-2:2013, which are summarised below:

  • Identify  the Employer's Information Requirements (EIR) and respond with a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) containing a Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP) and a Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP);
  • Store, manage and exchange complex information using an online storage Common Data Environment (CDE);
  • Compliance with the documents and standards as listed on the BIM Level 2 website;
  • Apply classification codes to all modelled elements to ensure all parties are providing a 'common language';
  • Producing a Construction-Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) document and Asset Model for Operation & Maintenance purposes

MSJ are already working in collaboration with Architects (Martin Walsh Architectural and Farrell & Clark Architects) on the particulars of the BIM level 2 working environment.
